Today we went to the Bastille and met up with a new friend, Kristin. She is an American, married to a Frenchman, who we met through Ms. Megan in SF. What a fortuitous meeting for us.
No only did we walk all through this great neighborhood, but Kristin also helped us with some housekeeping issues.
Stamps, for one. We tried to buy postcard stamps the other day, but the machin only takes centimes (coins) or a european-chip-enabled credit card. I barely have enough coins to get us a croissant, let alone a bunch of stamps. Kristin took care of business for us, so postcards are on their way to many of you.
Band aids, for two. Isabella's new sneakers, though a love of hers, managed to give her some shoe bites. Pharmacies here have everything, including the ability to dispense medication without a doctor. They are everywhere, too, and sell very nice brands of French lotions, soaps and shampoos as well as the necessities. Neither Isabella nor I could remember how to say bandage, so Kristin helped with that, too.
American breadcrumbs, for four. The store pictured above (yes, it's really called Thanksgiving) sells all manner of American food products. I spotted Fluff, Kraft Mac and Cheese and Progresso breadcrumbs. I have yet to figure out how and where to buy breadcrumbs for our beloved breaded chicken, so this was a nice find. And, the place smelled like American bacon!
The best part, though, is that Kristin is a very nice, funny, friendly woman who we really are enjoying getting to know. And, she knows where all the good sales are, too!
